Son of the Motherland

Once again Night and the Moon met to swing on the stars.
The silence filled itself with their song of songs.
But me, the dog astray, who ran away from rod and reproach,
Choking on my own tears, I will be whining quietly by the hedge.
Oh, how merciless and tough the grip of my Motherland’s shackles.
Often in the morning my whole body is full of pain.
Well, so it is in my country: where disputes, they’re fights!
And, certainly not verbally, the dog gets beaten up!
Somewhere in the distance a nightingale sings, the wind blows grey clouds,
Along the path an ant drags his catch into the house.
Everything in Nature is in balance and even more in Heaven!
Why then do people get scared by my hysterical canine voice.
Days are puffing celebrations – now fiesta, then funeral.
I was told it happens all the time on the space of my native land.
Oh, I’ll start barking and biting all the rushing passers-by.
And let it be even if I will never get out of my bed under the fence.
But maybe it’s better just to bellow, and be a farmer’s milk cow.
So I won’t need to sleep under the stinking prickly fence!
